The opportunity 

A leading global mining contractor is expanding its Australian operations and is seeking a proactive and independent Mining Engineer to join the team at a coal mine in South-East Queensland. This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in re-establishing mining operations following a significant operational reset.

You’ll be responsible for short- and medium-term mine planning, working closely with key stakeholders to ensure seamless and efficient operations at this site.

This role is drive-in, drive-out e.g. from Brisbane, with accommodation provided. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with weekends off.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and implement short- and medium-term mine plans.
• Work independently to establish policies and procedures, supporting site operations from the ground up.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to align mine planning with operational and regulatory needs.
• Provide input on operational efficiencies and help shape the future of Australian operations.

What You’ll Need

• A degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience in short- to medium-term mine planning, ideally in open-cut coal mining.
• The ability to operate independently and thrive in a startup-style environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to navigate an evolving operational landscape.
• Drive-in/Drive-out flexibility (ie Brisbane/SE Queensland based).
